Ten British soldiers have been flown to Northern Ireland to give evidence at the trial of a man accused of killing an army colleague who died when struck by a petrol tanker at a security checkpoint in south Armagh in June 1998.

A jury of nine men and three women was sworn in at Newry Crown Court yesterday. Mr Patrick David Belton (38), of Edward Street, Newry, Co Down, has denied dangerous driving, causing the death of Cpl Garry Fenton (29) near Crossmaglen.
