Gardaí investigating the death of a young man from head injuries in Wexford have arrested six people.

Michael Connors (21), Cluain Dara, Clonard, Wexford, was taken to hospital after an incident at Belvedere Grove in the town on the night of June 29th.

He was later transferred from Wexford General Hospital to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he died nine days later.

A postmortem examination confirmed Mr Connors died as a result of head injuries.

Three men and three women, ranging between the ages of 17 and 57, were arrested in Wexford this morning.

They are being held at New Ross, Wexford and Enniscorthy Garda stations under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí in Wexford have asked for anyone who has any information about the incident to contact them. They are specifically asking residents of Belvedere Grove or anyone who was in the area shortly before midnight on June 29th to contact them.
