Six arrested after four Dublin drug seizures

Six men were arrested during four separate drug seizures in Dublin at the weekend.

Three men were taken into custody on Friday afternoon after officers from the Garda National Drugs Units found 135kg of cannabis at an address in the Ranch area of Ballyfermot in west Dublin. The drugs are believed to be worth about €1 million.

The three, one aged 24 and the others aged 35, where taken to Clondalkin Garda station for questioning. Two later appeared in court and another was released, with a file due to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí also impounded a car and a van during the raid.

At Dublin airport, a 20-year-old British national was arrested after customs officials seized a quantity of cocaine - reported to be worth €330,000 - yesterday morning. The man was being held last night at Santry Garda station.

In a separate incident at the airport, an Austrian man was arrested after gardaí seized €200,000 worth of cannabis on Saturday morning. He was detained following a joint operation between the National Drugs Unit and Revenue customs officials.

A Garda spokesman said the man was being detained at Santry station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the seizure of cocaine worth €70,000 in Clondalkin.

Gardaí from Ronanstown arrested the suspect at a house in Collinstown Grove at about 2am as part of an ongoing operation to target the supply of illegal drugs in the area. A small quantity of cannabis resin and drug paraphernalia was also seized. The man was being detained at Ronanstown Garda station.
