A Sinn Fein Assembly member, Mr Gerry Kelly, has accused the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) of intimidating Catholics in north Belfast following a petrol-bomb attack on the home of a community worker.
Ms Anna Nee and her three children were watching television in the largely Catholic Whitewell area, which is adjacent to the Protestant White City area, when two petrol bombs were thrown through her door in the early hours of yesterday. Only one of the bombs exploded, causing scorch damage to the house windows and walls.
No one was injured in the attack, which follows recent street clashes and pipe-bomb attacks on Catholic homes.
Mr John White from the Ulster Democratic Party, which has close links with the UDA, said the organisation, which is on ceasefire, was not involved in the attacks in Whitewell.
