A couple whose company operated a sex shop in Galway city were fined £6,500 plus costs at Galway District Court yesterday.
Shardam Trading Company (Limerick) Ltd and its directors, Damian Cuddihy and his partner, Sharon Tucker, of Ballynacourty, Lisnagry, Co Limerick, owned the shop, called 4Play, at 4 Buttermilk Walk, Galway.
Sgt Leo O'Hara gave evidence that he seized pornographic magazines and videos on December 20th last year.
Thirteen of the videos did not have censor's certificates. Prosecutions were being brought with regard to the magazines under the Censorship of Publications Act, Sgt O'Hara said.
