BELGRADE - An estimated 150,000 Serbians demonstrated in Belgrade yesterday, some pelting state media offices with eggs, as their leaders pledged to force President Slobodan Milosevic's Socialists to accept election results.
The United States condemned the annulment of the municipal election results, which had showed victories for the anti Milosevic Zajedno (Together) coalition, and European Union officials and diplomats from 13 western embassies held talks with Zajedno leaders.
Mr Zoran Djindjic, a leader of Zajedno, told demonstrators in Belgrade: "This is no longer an election rally or a protest rally. This is a democratic revolution that Serbia has been waiting 50 years for."
