A suspicious car was found abandoned close to the count centre for the Foyle constituency in Derry tonight.
The area surrounding the Templemore Sports Complex has been closed and army technical are at the scene.
A spokeswoman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the counting process at the leisure centre was unaffected.
Former SDLP leader Mark Durkan is hoping to protect his 5,000 majority against Sinn Féin’s Martina Anderson in the Foyle constituency.

Earlier this evening, police in Derry received reports of a bomb at Strand Road Station shortly after 10pm. The area was checked and the call declared a hoax.
