Day two of the trial of a man who denies raping a girl in a football field on her way home from a night-club has been taken up with legal argument. The 38-year old married man is pleading not guilty to one charge each of rape, of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault on November 2nd, 1997.

Earlier, the woman, now 19, told a jury at the Central Criminal Court that the man grabbed her bomber jacket from behind at a south county Dublin football field where he attacked her. The trial resumes tomorrow before Mr Justice Barr and a jury.
