Swedish rescue authorities called off their search today for the missing crew of a Norwegian cargo ship that sank in Swedish waters a day earlier.
The vessel foundered with a crew of six during a heavy storm in the North Sea, leaving life vests, rafts and debris floating on the surface.
Ulrika Nilsson, a spokeswoman for the Swedish Coast Guard, said there were no longer hopes of finding the crew members alive.
"The rescue team has decided to call off the search. It is not likely that anyone survived," she said.
Nilsson said the wreck of the cargo ship Langeland was believed to have been located, and that divers were waiting for better weather to go down to identify it.
The 70-metre vessel, which went missing close to the Koster Islands, was carrying stone to Norway.
