Ryanair began operating its second European base out of Hahn Airport near Frankfurt early this morning.

Ryanair has allocated up to four aircraft to the new base, which will handle over 30 flights each day from Frankfurt on ten international routes to Italy, Britain, France, Shannon in Ireland, and Norway.

The new base has created over 200 new jobs in Frankfurt and will see Ryanair bring 1,500,000 passengers through the airport in the first 12 months of its operation.

Ryanair’s lowest one-way fare is over 90 per cent cheaper than the lowest one-way fare being offered by principal rival Lufthansa.

Lufthansa had originally obtained an injunction from the courts by arguing that Ryanair’s services were not comparable to those of Lufthansa and claiming Ryanair could not compare its low one-way fares with Lufthansa’s high one-way fares.
