The Lindsay tribunal has postponed the resumption of its public hearings due to a delay in collating the hospital records of more than 220 haemophiliacs infected with HIV and/or hepatitis C through contaminated blood products.
The former medical director of the National Haemophilia Treatment Centre, Prof Ian Temperley, was due to begin his evidence tomorrow on the inquiry's third phase, examining the response of treating doctors to the tragedy. He will not now appear before the tribunal until next week at the earliest.
The delay in resuming hearings stems from a difficulty in sourcing hospital records as well as a need to gain consent from patients before such records can be released to the tribunal.
