Residents from the Navan Road area of Dublin have met the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, Ms de Valera, to voice their objections to large rock concerts being held in the Phoenix Park. The Navan Road Community Council told the Minister it believed the policy to have the concerts was at odds with the Phoenix Park's status as a national historic park, a wild deer park and an area of recreation with no entry fee.

According to the council, the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, prior to the last election, indicated he did not believe large rock concerts were a proper use for the Phoenix Park.

Ms de Valera said she would consult with local TDs and her officials.
