Harry Redknapp has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Leicester job, according to the Premiership strugglers.

Harry Redknapp has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Leicester job, according to the Premiership strugglers.

Redknapp held talks with the Foxes earlier this week about becoming Peter Taylor's successor.

But Leicester issued a statement this afternoon which revealed that Redknapp was no longer a contender.

Redknapp claimed today in his Racing Post column that bottom-of-the-table Leicester had made him an offer and said "it's now up to me to say yes or no".

But Leicester's statement included a denial that the job had been offered to the former West Ham manager.

The statement read: "Harry Redknapp has asked to be no longer considered for the position of manager at the club. This follows discussions he had with his chairman at Portsmouth.

"Harry was one of several people whom the board have invited for interview. A preliminary meeting was held earlier this week as part of this process.

"The board wishes to make it clear that no formal offer to manage the club had been made to Harry or, for that matter, anyone else at this stage.

"The board has more interviews arranged in the next few days and will continue to work towards appointing a new manager as speedily as is practically possible.

"This is a tremendously important appointment for the future of the club and we are all determined to appoint the right person."

George Graham has also been strongly linked with the Leicester job.
