Recommendations

A national crime victimisation survey should be conducted every two years, starting in 2002;

Ireland should take part in the International Crime Victimisation Survey, which is carried out every four years;

The Minister for Justice should set up an expert group on crime statistics, to report back within four months;

There should be various alterations to the annual report of the Commissioner of An Garda S∅ochβna;

The research community should have access to the database of this report, subject to certain considerations.
