`Real IRA' suspect set free on bail

A Dublin man accused of membership of an illegal organisation was freed on bail by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin.

A Dublin man accused of membership of an illegal organisation was freed on bail by the Special Criminal Court in Dublin.

Mr Ruairi Convey (24), Newbrook Avenue, Donaghmede, was charged last Friday with membership of an illegal organisation styling itself Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the Irish Republican Army, otherwise the IRA.

Yesterday Mr Convey was freed on independent bail of £10,000 and his own bond of £900 and ordered to report twice a week to Coolock Garda station. Det Sgt Ciaran Daly, special detective unit, said he was not opposing bail.
