London - A private tax deal reached by Queen Elizabeth with the conservative government of Sir William Churchill when she first ascended to the throne nearly 50 years ago may have brought her a windfall income of than one billion pounds sterling during her reign, investment statisticians have calculated.

According to figures published yesterday, the secret arrangement allowed the Queen alone among British taxpayers, to reclaim tax paid on dividends and interest from her investment in British companies.
