Veteran midfielder John Quane will not start for Limerick in Sunday's Munster football final against Kerry at the Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney.
Quane, who aggravated an Achilles tendon injury during a recent challenge match, failed a fitness test last night and has been omitted from the starting line-up.
However, Quane has been named among the substitutes and manager Liam Kearns has indicated the player will have some part to play at the weekend.
His place in midfield will be taken by Jason Stokes.
Kerry have injury problems of their own in the middle of the park with a question mark still hanging over the involvement of current All-Star Darragh O Se.
The Kerry management face an anxious wait to see how his ankle injury responds to treatment over the next few days before making a decision on his inclusion.
Meanwhile, Limerick's under-21 hurlers are out of this season's All-Ireland after suffering a 3-10 to 1-11 defeat at the hands of Cork in the Munster semi-final this evening. The Rebel County will meet Tipperary in the final after Eoin Kelly inspired them to a 1-11 to 0-11 victory over Clare in Ennis.
Elsewhere, Down have made two changes for Sunday's Ulster football final showdown with Tyrone at Clones.
Manager Paddy O'Rourke has opted for Ronan Sexton ahead of Colm McCrickard in the half-forward line while the injured Brendan Grant is omitted from the starting line-up. His place at corner-back is taken by Aidan O'Prey.
