Police in Northern Ireland are investigating separate pipe and petrol bomb attacks in Co Antrim overnight.

Police in Northern Ireland are investigating separate pipe and petrol bomb attacks in Co Antrim overnight.

Shortly after 5.30am a petrol bomb was thrown at the window of a house Peeling View area of Blackmore.

The bomb fell short and ignited on the grass at the front of the house. No one was injured in the attack.

Police are trying to establish a motive for the incident and have appealed to anyone with information to contact them.

In Newtownabbey a portion of a pipe bomb exploded under a vehicle parked outside a property on Firmount Drive in the town shortly after 9.30pm.

Another part of the device was discovered by a resident at 9am this morning.

Police have removed the black Vauxhall van for further forensic tests and anyone with information is asked to contact them.
