THE chief negotiators on behalf of the Apprentice Boys and the Bogside Residents Group are

. Mr Alistair Simpson (57), governor of the overall Apprentice Boys organisation which also has branches in Canada, the US and Britain as well as Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan. He is from the Protestant Fountain area on Derry's predominantly Catholic west bank and is a former customs and excise official who was made redundant. He is a community worker in the Protestant Fountain area.

. Mr William Moore, who is in his 40s, general secretary of the Apprentice Boys. He runs a newsagents in the Protestant Waterside area of Derry. He is responsible for running social activities on behalf of the Apprentice Boys.

. Mr Donncha Mac Niallais (38), chief spokesman and negotiator for the Bogside Residents Group (BRG). A Bogside resident, he is a former republican prisoner and local community activist. He is son of Sinn Fein councillor, Ms Mary Nelis. The Apprentice Boys originally refused to negotiate with him because of his prison past.

. Mr Robin Percival (48), who was also involved in the negotiations with the Apprentice Boys on behalf of the BRG. He runs the Pat Finucane Centre, a human rights group in the city. A native of Liverpool, he came to Derry 25 years ago. He lectures in sociology in the North West Institute for Further and Higher Education in Derry. He is also a trade unionist.
