Birmingham - An 80-year-old Catholic priest found murdered at his presbytery suffered multiple stab wounds, police disclosed yesterday.
West Midlands Police said a post-mortem examination of the body of Father Paul Orchard showed he died after one of several stab wounds to his chest penetrated his heart. Detectives opened a murder inquiry after the priest's body was found at his church in Brandhall, West Midlands, on Sunday. A 31-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested in the nearby Smethwick area later.
