THE President, Mrs Robinson, will deliver the prestigious Churchill Lecture at the Guildhall in London during a three day visit to Britain which begins today.

Before a selected audience of politicians, diplomats and businessmen, the President will deliver the lecture, entitled "Humanitarian Crisis: Prevention, Response and Rehabilitation" tomorrow night and receive a medal of honour to commemorate the occasion.

The lecture celebrates the anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's birth, and previous speakers include Princess Anne, former American presidents Mr Ronald Reagan and Mr Gerald Ford, Lord Owen and Dr Conor Cruise O'Brien.

Arriving at Birmingham Airport this morning, Mrs Robinson, who will be accompanied by her husband, Nicholas, will be met by the Irish Ambassador, Mr Ted Barrington, and a representative of Queen Elizabeth.

After receiving an honorary doctorate from Coventry University, she will meet representatives from the Centre for the Study of Forgiveness and Reconciliation.

The President, ho is the organisation's patron, officially inaugurated the centre during her visit to Britain in March.

Tonight she will deliver the Rede Lecture on "Civil Society: Renewals at Work" at Cambridge University.

Tomorrow morning the President will meet members of the Action Group for Irish Youth and be presented with a copy of their recently published Guide to London for Young Irish People. The organisation hopes to circulate the guide to Irish schools and voluntary agencies.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ireland House, Mrs Robinson will unveil a plaque at a special reception tomorrow afternoon and meet representatives of the Irish Trade Board, the Irish Tourist Board and the Food Board.

Although the President will, spend Wednesday privately, it understood she will attend a seminar at Oxford University to celebrate her husband's recent book on the life of Edmund Burke.
