PolandPoland's right-wing Law and Justice party (PiS), which opposes deeper European Union integration and is sceptical about adopting the euro, shot to the top of popularity polls ahead of general elections due by October.

A survey by CBOS institute shows that support for the party jumped 8 per cent to 24 per cent in April.

This allowed it to overtake its liberal-conservative ally, Civic Platform, as poll leader.

With support for Civic Platform at 20 per cent, the two parties will be able to form a majority in the next parliament.
