SPORTY ENDA will have been disappointed at missing Thursday’s Irish Open Pro-Am, but at least he had the consolation of experiencing a “seismic shift” in Brussels.

Thoughts of which have been haunting us since we first heard it on the breakfast news yesterday morning. The experts then spent the rest of the day arguing that Enda’s shift was only of the teacup-rattling variety on the Richter scale of the economic crisis.

The Taoiseach took part in last year’s pro-am in Killarney, but for obvious reasons couldn’t spare the time to tee off at Royal Portrush.

However, his chief-of-staff, Mark Kennelly, made it on to the timesheet, along with PR consultant and FG strategist, Mark Mortell.

Which means Enda was all but there in the flesh, as his shadow, Kennelly, is never usually more than a few feet away from the boss’s shoulder and Mortell is one of the Taoiseach’s closest confidants.

The high-powered pair were teamed with Roddy Carr and professional, Paul Cutler.

Northern Ireland MLA Alex Attwood joined Colin Montgomerie in one of the foursomes and Senator Martin McAleese played his round with South African professional George Coetzee.
