Twenty-four people, including a member of the Brazilian Congress, were killed in a plane that crashed in northwestern Brazil late yesterday, according to local officials.
The plane belonging to Rico Linhas Aereas with about 30 people on board crashed as it was coming in for landing at the airport of Rio Branco, airport control tower officials said, and not shortly after take off, as some local media had reported earlier.
Rio Branco is located close to Brazil's border with Peru and Bolivia.
Among the dead were member of Congress Ildefonco Cordeiro and his wife.
