A motorist who ignored an injured man trying to flag him down after dragging himself from a fatal crash in Co Down was today being sought by police.
A young man (18) died in the crash on the Comber Road, Dundonald, when he appeared to hit a traffic island and lose control shortly before 1.00 a.m., said police.
Two passengers managed to drag themselves from the car after it burst into flames.
Despite suffering severe leg injuries one of them, a young man, crawled into the road and tried to flag down a passing car to get help.
However, the motorist, coming from the direction of Comber, failed to stop and, swerving around the injured man, continued on in the direction of Belfast.
Police appealed for the motorist, or any other witness to the crash, to contact them.
The driver of the crashed car who died was named today as John Mark Dornan from Mill Street in Newtownards, Co Down.
