Police chief backs `legal brothels' call

BRITAIN'S first woman chief constable yesterday backed a call from a senior colleague for brothels to be legalised

BRITAIN'S first woman chief constable yesterday backed a call from a senior colleague for brothels to be legalised. Ms Pauline Clare, head of the Lancashire force, said she would like to see prostitution regulated to make it safer for the women involved. Legalisation would also allow thorough health checks of prostitutes and mean their earnings could be taxed, she said.
