NAOMI CAMPBELL was fired yesterday as spokesperson for PETA, an animal rights group, after appearing in a fur coat at a Fendi fashion, show in Milan last week.

Campbell's dismissal was announced in a letter by Dan Matthews, director of campaigns at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

"Integrity may not mean much to you, but it does to us, so consider yourself fired ... for reneging on your written promise never to model fur."

The letter went on to say that Ms Campbell's name and image would be removed from all future PETA literature "as it is a disgrace to the many animal-friendly fashion leaders, who have both hearts and spines".
