Former South African president P.W. Botha (82) on trial for defying the truth commission, has married a former legal secretary from Cape Town. According to South African radio, he married Barbara Robertson (57) Monday morning at a small, private ceremony at his retirement home in Wilderness on the south coast.
The Rev Hansie Venter of the Dutch Reformed Church presided over the marriage, which was attended by three of Mr Botha's children and Ms Robertson's daughter.
Earlier this year, Mr Botha announced his engagement to Reinette te Water Naude, a businesswoman 36 years his junior, but the relationship broke up a few weeks ago.
His first wife Elize, whom he married in 1943, died last year.
