A Co Limerick woman who was stopped by gardai while driving through a red light explained that she was peeling a mandarin orange at the time and was unable to stop.
Ms Brid O'Dea, of Ardroe, Pallasgreen, told Judge Con O'Leary at Limerick District Court that she suffered from low blood sugar and needed a regular intake.
Judge O'Leary suggested that eating an orange while driving through red lights was a dangerous practice, and imposed a fine of £90.
