Actor Oliver Reed will be buried in Cork early next week, following his death in Malta at the weekend.
He lived in Churchtown, near Buttevant, for the past number of years. It is understood that his remains will be flown to Heathrow Airport today but, according to an undertaker in Buttevant, Mr Eddie O'Keeffe, the arrangements after that are not yet clear.
The actor was a close friend of Mr Jack Manning, a local, who said his wish was to be buried in north Cork.
Mr Reed's partner, Josephine, is making separate arrangements to fly from Malta to Britain and then on to Ireland. It is thought that his friends will assemble from around the world.
Reed starred in more than 50 films and will be remembered best for his roles in Women in Love and Tommy.
