Nursing homes can supply beds to health boards to ease the current beds shortage in hospitals, the Irish Nursing Homes Organisation said yesterday.
The organisation, which represents private nursing homes, said many patients were being maintained in acute hospital beds longer than necessary and could be looked after more cost-effectively in nursing homes.
