Unemployment in the North has fallen to its lowest level in 24 years, according to British government statistics released yesterday.
The Northern Ireland Labour Force Survey shows that there are currently 49,000 people unemployed in the North. The unemployment rate is now 6.6 per cent, which is lower than the north-east of England (9.2 per cent), Scotland (7.7 per cent), London (7.5 per cent) and Wales (6.9 per cent).
