NI ambulance worker injured in stone attack

A female member of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service was attacked at an ambulance station late last night.

A female member of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service was attacked at an ambulance station late last night.

Today, Ms Valerie O'Neill - who was hit in the eye with a stone - condemned the incident as an attack on the service.

In a report on the BBC website Ms O'Neill said she was hit by the stone as she examined an ambulance at the Castlederg station just after 11.30 p.m.

This is the 119th attack on members of the ambulance staff this year. The Ambulance Service called for jail sentences for those who carried out such attacks.
