Two Spanish fishing vessels were detained by the Naval Service yesterday, bringing the total number of vessels detained this year to 19.
A British-registered Spanish vessel was detained by the LE Deirdre for alleged retention of undersized fish about 400 miles west of Dingle Bay shortly before 2 p.m. The vessel was escorted to Castletownbere.
A Spanish-registered vessel was detained by the LE Aisling for an alleged incorrect capacity plan (hidden hold) about 56 miles south of Mizen Head at 11.42 p.m. and was taken to Cork.
