Gardai in Dublin investigating the murder of Mr Felix McCann (48), whose body was found in a disused shed in Sandyford on Friday, were last night trying to contact a taxidriver who drove him late on Thursday.

In a separate Garda investigation, a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions on the death of Ms Cora Collins (41), whose body, with apparent head bruising, was found in her home on Shangan Road, Ballymun, on Saturday afternoon. A 50-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday evening in connection with her death was released at lunchtime yesterday.

Detectives investigating the murder of Mr McCann have pieced together his final movements. He and another man were picked up by a taxi at Sallynoggin village at around 11 p.m. on Thursday. The other man got out at George's Street, Dun Laoghaire, but Mr McCann travelled on towards Sandyford village.

His badly-beaten body was found in a disused shed on Kilgobbin Road, Sandyford, on Friday evening. He had been dead for several hours.

Gardai are also attempting to contact two women, believed to be foreigners, who got a taxi at Chatham Street at about 1.15 a.m. on Friday. One got out at the entrance to Sandyford Park, while the other was dropped at Sandyford crossroad and walked along Kilgobbin Road. Detectives have asked the women and the taxi-man to contact Stepaside Garda station.

The shed where Mr McCann's body was found was used as a shelter by a number of homeless men.

Ms Collins's body was discovered following a call on Saturday to Dublin fire brigade. A Garda spokesman said yesterday her death was being treated as "suspicious".
