A mortgage broker has been disqualified from managing a financial services provider for two years by the Financial Regulator.

The disqualification follows an investigation into the operations of John Gurhy, trading as Gurhy Properties & Financial Services, The Debt Doctor.

In a statement today the regulator said it suspected Mr Gurhy had breached certain aspects of the Consumer Protection Code and the Consumer Credit Act, but had not received any complaints.

The regulator also suspected Mr Gurhy had allowed “unauthorised persons” to do business through the firm and had failed to submit to a mortgage lender a signed declaration stating that his firm had sight of original documentation.
