Brussels - The fate of a MEP Olivier Dupuis, arrested after a pro-democracy protest in Laos, remains unknown, his party said yesterday.

First reports from activists of Dupuis's Radical Transnational Party (PRT) said that two European Parliament members were arrested at the protest in the Laotian capital Vientiane on Friday.

However a PRT statement said Mr Dupuis, the party's secretary, was the only MP detained although four party activists were also picked up.
