A Limerick man arrested in a pub with a hatchet concealed in his trousers has been jailed for 15 months.
Gardai told Limerick District Court yesterday they believed the defendant intended to use it on members of a rival faction in a feud in the area.
Bernard Mulqueen (26), of Lenihan Avenue, in Ballinacurra Weston, pleaded guilty to possession of the hatchet and to threatening and abusive behaviour.
