A Wexford man, who had his sentences adjourned to allow him to spend Christmas with his only surviving child from a road crash, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment and has been disqualified from driving for eight years at New Ross District Court yesterday.

Justin Sinnott (29), Glenbarra Estate, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co Wexford, had no involvement in the crash when members of his family were killed. However his sentencing for other road traffic offences was adjourned by Wexford District Court in December.

In October 2006, Sinnott's former partner Jacinta (24) and two of his children, Trevor (3) and Tanya (one), were killed in a crash in Wexford.

Sinnott, who has a number of previous convictions, was before the court yesterday charged with drink-driving and driving without insurance at Monastery Avenue, Taghmon, Co Wexford, on July 25th, 2007.

The offences occurred as he was serving a driving ban.

Judge Donnchadh Ó Buachalla sentenced Sinnott to six months imprisonment and disqualified him from driving for eight years in respect of the no-insurance charge. On the drink-driving charge, he sentenced him to three months imprisonment, to run concurrently with the six-month sentence. The judge disqualified him from driving for six years.
