The Garda Ombudsman is investigating the death of a man after he fell ill in custody.
The man, who was in his mid-40s, was arrested in Midleton, Co Cork, at 6.30am.
He was taken to the nearby Garda station, where gardaí became concerned for his health and called an ambulance.
A spokesman for the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission said the man was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he died.
