A man was charged yesterday with attempted murder at Divis Street travellers camp in Belfast last month. Mr Patrick Ward (26), from St Christopher's Park, Newry, was alleged to have used a machete to attack Mr Brian McDonagh, who lives at Monagh bypass. His injuries included a fractured skull, a broken elbow, cuts to his face and body and the loss of a finger. When charged at Belfast Magistrates Court, Mr Ward replied: "Not, guilty." He was remanded in, custody until March 12th.
