A man is being questioned by gardai in relation to an incident in which another man was threatened with a gun in a pub in Dublin yesterday.
He was arrested by gardai at Kilmainham investigating threats against a man at the licensed premises at 4.20pm yesterday. Nobody was injured.
A short time later, gardai searched a man walking on Davitt Road, Dublin 12.
They recovered a handgun and, in the course of a follow-up search at Connolly Avenue, a magazine containing a number of rounds of ammunition were recovered.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and is currently detained at Kevin Street Garda station under the Offences Against the State Act 1939/98, a Garda statement said.
The gun and ammunition will be forwarded to Garda ballistics experts at Garda Headquarters.
