London - Police hunting the killers of black London teenager Stephen Lawrence said yesterday they had arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
"The man was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the murder of Stephen Lawrence," a Scotland Yard spokesman said.
He said a 27-year-old man was arrested in south London yesterday morning and taken to a police station for questioning. Lawrence, an 18-year-old student, was stabbed to death by a gang of white youths in south London in April 1993.
A subsequent inquiry found police had failed to investigate the crime properly because of "institutional racism".
