The funeral of Bryan MacMahon will take place today after 11 a.m. requiem Mass in St Mary's Church, Listowel, to the Listowel Old Cemetery. A large number of people from the town, as well as many from the worlds of literature, education and the GAA, attended the removal last night from O'Carroll's Funeral Home, Listowel, to St Mary's Church.
Mr MacMahon is survived by his five sons, Garry, Jim, Bryan, Maurice and Owen.
Many affectionate tributes have been paid to him, including those from his friend and fellow playwright John B. Keane, and Senator Joe O'Toole, the general secretary of the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO).
