Skopje - An opposition coalition yesterday appeared poised to oust Macedonia's ruling former communists, according to unofficial results from Sunday's second round of parliamentary elections.
The outcome could affect NATO's verification mission in neighbouring Kosovo, since the opposition alliance had been opposed to allowing NATO troops on Macedonian soil. Unofficial results released by both the opposition and the ruling Social Democrats indicated a new government was likely.
