Louth man wins silver at Chelsea flower show

A landscape designer from Co Louth has won a silver medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in London.

A landscape designer from Co Louth has won a silver medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in London.

Mr Paul Martin from Dundalk won the medal for his entry "Lazy Salad Days" in the Chic Garden category.

An established garden designer in Ireland for the past 16 years, Mr Martin has designed gardens in Ireland, London, Dallas and New York. He is currently redesigning the large grounds at the Nuremore Hotel & Country Club in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

He won a bronze medal at the Royal Horticultural Show in Tatton Park in 2002.

"I was delighted to represent Ireland at this year's Chelsea Flower Show and am thrilled to win this silver medal," he said.

"Chelsea has been a fantastic experience for me, and has given me the opportunity to demonstrate how creativity can make such a difference to a small urban garden.

"The fact that Ireland has been so successful at Chelsea in recent years demonstrates the increasing level of interest in garden design in Ireland," he said.
