Lotto hopefuls are being urged to play early this weekend as the National Lottery jackpot heads for €13 million on Saturday.

The National Lottery is predicting that up to 2,000 people will be playing every minute at peak time tomorrow afternoon.

The jackpot has rolled over for the last ten draws without a winner, and is the second time this year that the jackpot has reached this level.

The largest jackpot so far this year was €14.5 million on March 12th, the second largest prize fund since the game began. It was won by a Co Kildare syndicate of two.

The largest Lotto jackpot to date was in July 2007, when the winning players shared €16,185,749.

The largest individual winner of a Lotto jackpot scooped €7,892,753 in May 1997.
