Bonn - Lottery players jammed tobacco shops across Germany yesterday to buy chances on the second largest jackpot in the country's history.

More than 203 million marks were spent on tickets for last Saturday's 27 million mark draw. But no one had the winning number, making this Saturday's jackpot DM 35 million (about £9 million).
