Limerick Corporation has voted unanimously to invite the Dail to move to Limerick city next year, the first time in its history it will have left Dublin. The invitation comes as an initiative of the Irish Parliament Trust, a peace research charity.

The trust is promoting the concept of a dual Irish parliament sitting at a location outside Belfast or Dublin as key to peace. Limerick celebrates its 800th year as a city next year and it is hoped that the Dail will mark the occasion by visiting.
