Any undue delay in prosecuting a legal challenge to redevelopment works at Dublin Airport could jeopardise the completion date of a major £100 million terminal, the High Court was told yesterday.

Mr Paul Sreenan SC, for Aer Rianta, said legal delays could lead to the project's postponement. He was addressing Mr Justice Budd in an action in which Ryanair obtained court orders last week temporarily halting Aer Rianta's redevelopment works at the airport.

Having heard counsel for both sides, the judge adjourned the case until Thursday to allow for the exchange of further affidavits between the sides and in the hope a judge might be found to hear the case on that day.

He directed that the injunction granted last week to Ryanair should continue until then.
